So does that really work?

"So does it really work"?

This is a question I get asked by pretty much anyone who notices my kiddos wearing a Baltic Essentials Amber Necklace and knows vaguely what it is for.

My answer is most always the same . . .

I feel like for us it has. It is a small price to pay for some relief and not putting drugs in their little bodies! Also, I notice when my littles don't have it on - like when I have forgotten to put it on after a bath - they are just more clingy.

I've used amber with all four of my kids. Only my first have I every given any sort of OTC teething medicine - That was also before I broke down and gave one of these a try!

With my third we did have to do some other natural remedies along with the necklace. But in comparision from what I have heard from most of my friends - and I have heard an earful - we've have seemed to have a fairly easy go of it - I have to contribute that to giving Balitc Amber a try.

Why Does it Work?

It isn't some "voodoo" magic, like some of my friends like to joke around about. There is an actual reason it works.

They aren't "corn kernels, like my daughter's classmates asked her, they aren't rocks either. Each bead is a piece of genuine Baltic amber - tree resin. This Baltic amber is fossilized pine tree resin from the area surrounding the Baltic Sea.

This resin contains 3-8% succinic acid which lies mostly on it's surface. And what is that? Well, that's is what helps with teething - and other things! It was used in the middle ages and ancient Greece for it's healing properties.

Essentially, succinic acid is an analgesic - or pain killer. When amber is warmed, such as when it touches the skin, the acid is released and can "soak" into the skin. Now, if proximity makes any difference, I would have to assume a necklace would be a better choice for teething since it is closer to the jaw line - only because the pain killers have a shorter distance to travel.

I think the Multi-colored Amber is one of the prettiest styles for everyday wear. Before this one we mostly had the "raw" style. But I have to say, the "polished" is really eye catching in person. I was actually kinda surprised by how much I liked it's "bling" effect.
